The photos below show you the paper that we have been using to write our "How To" stories. After the children turn and talk about their idea for their story, they illustrate their story using story frames. Each frame represents a step in their story. The children number their frames to keep track of what happens 1st, next and then last! Afterwards the children have another opportunity to turn and talk about their story using their illustrations to help explain their story meaning. Then the children begin writing their steps! This is a wonderful example of what you would see in Kindergarten!
In the videos below you will see how we share what we notice as young writer's. Children use reading and writing strategies together when they are trying to make sense out of their ideas. It is through these type of writing experiences where children learn how to make connections and ask questions about what they observe and notice.
