Kindergarten Writing Curriculum Calendar

What is a writing curriculum calendar?

A writing curriculum calendar is a calendar for the year of when specific writing genres will be taught.

What is Writer's Workshop?

This is a time everyday that your child spends on writing.  We focus on different genre studiescraft studiesand process studies.  A genre study focuses on a specific type of writing.  In Kindergarten we focus on the following genres; poetry, narrative writing, informational, personal narratives, procedural and response to literature.  A process study is when we offer choice of a specific genre and may focus on word spacing, editing techniques, and develop writing partnerships.  A craft study is when we focus on writing conventions, good beginnings, dialogue bubbles, sound/symbol work, features characteristic of a specific genre, etc.
